Family celebrations

Thinking of you today on your wedding anniversary. I may not have been born then but I know it was the happiest day for both you and Uncle Wayne.

Here's a picture of you at my wedding, looking beautiful and radiant as always. Family get togethers were always so much fun and I can still hear your laughter and picture your smile. You aren't with us in person and that presence will always be missed but you will always be there with us.

Other events that come to mind:

Barbecues at nan's when you and I would be screaming at the sight of a bee or a wasp. I was always relieved not to be the only one panicking!

Birthdays when you would share in our celebrations and bring wonderful gifts. William proudly said the other day "Auntie Helen bought me this t shirt for my birthday". You brought energy and laughter with you wherever you went. On nan's 90th, nan was in New Cross but we sat with her, opened presents and cards and laughed at dad trying your wig on.

Christmas when we would all spend so much time together. Each Christmas Day I would find you in nan's kitchen, greeting me with a kiss and a glass of buck's fizz, then overseeing the cooking. Watching each other open presents and discussing what we have received. Seeing you crotchet hats whilst relaxing on the sofa. Watching films together during that week. Mama Mia and The Sound of Music come to mind. The karaoke machine.... Cooking wonderful food for the family all week. Then New Year's Eve when we'd welcome the new year in together but you would always be first in your pyjamas!

Holidays together in Wales, Torquay and abroad. You took me on my first foreign summer holiday, to Lanzarote, and I remember the fun we had.

Great memories, great times. You helped make those times special.

Lots of love, Katie xx
